Attribution and licensing

Three independently maintained projects supply everything factual on this site. None of them is affiliated with us, and none of them endorses us.

• Wikimon

  Lore, name histories, kana and dub names, and character artwork.

  Canonical entity records, taxonomy, skills, reference book text, and the evolution graph with its condition text.

• digimoncard.io

  Digimon Card Game data: gameplay attributes, printings, sets, rarities, and artist credits. Card images are loaded from digimoncard.io at display time and never copied onto our servers.

  Public API

Wikimon is a volunteer-run wiki and is the deepest of the three. We batch our requests through its API rather than crawling its pages, and we mirror artwork rather than hotlinking it, so that our traffic costs them as little as possible.

Wikimon publishes under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 (full license text). digi-api.com derives its reference text from Wikimon, so that text arrives here under the same terms.

Two obligations come with it, and they are not optional:

• Attribution. The source must be credited wherever the text appears.
• Share-alike. Text derived from it stays under CC BY-SA 3.0, including anything you take from this site.

Card game data from digimoncard.io is handled separately. Card names, card text, and card artwork are the intellectual property of Bandai; we store card data for search and cross-referencing and never copy card images onto our servers.

Every table holding derived text carries its own source, source_url, and license columns. Credits are computed from those columns on the specific rows being displayed, so a passage is credited under the terms it actually carries rather than under a single blanket notice that happens to be right most of the time.

In practice that renders as a compact credit beneath the section it covers. Below are two live examples, produced from row-shaped provenance rather than from written-out text. Rows sharing the same source and license collapse into one credit line.

Descriptive text taken from this site remains under CC BY-SA 3.0. If you republish it, credit the original source shown in its notice and license your version under the same terms. Crediting us instead of the upstream source does not satisfy the license.

Our own contribution is the synthesis: the cross-source entity matching, the schema, the queries, and the interface. Those are ours and are not covered by the upstream licenses.
